The Whaley House
San Diego Avenue
About this venue
The Whaley House is one of a select few authenticated by the United States Department of Commerce as being 'haunted'. Thomas Whaley, a New York entrepreneur, came to California during the Gold Rush in 1856. He built a two-story brick home in order to provide East-coast civility for his wife. The old courthouse was a county courthouse and government seat in the 1870s. And the ghost does too.
