About this tour

At Shimbashi Tamakiya, which has been in business since 1782, you can learn about the history of onigiri, the Japanese soul food, and how to make it in English or French, using tsukudani, a traditional food that has been passed down since the Edo period, and furikake. You can enjoy making onigiri yourself in this historic restaurant. You can also enjoy a tasting of three types of sake that go well with rice (additional charge of 1,000 yen). You can take a commemorative photo wearing a traditional woven cloth called a happi. You will also receive a souvenir that will help you make onigiri easily after you return home. After the experience, you will be issued an onigiri master certificate. Outside of midsummer, you can take home the onigiri you made yourself. You can also go on a picnic while sightseeing at Hama Rikyu.
