The Illinois State Capitol is one of the highest points in the state and is built in French-Renaissance and Italianate style. Guided tours of the historic building are offered through which you can admire the ornate gold interiors, paintings, sculptures and the beautiful dome. The Capitol is located in the Illinois State Capitol complex. It includes the Illinois Firefighters and Police Officers Memorials, and the Illinois Library.
