Port Angeles Underground Heritage Tour

The entire city was originally in the Port Angeles Underground. In the early 1900s, Port Angeles was known to stink due to its sewage accumulations. Due to this, the streets of the downtown area was raised to about 14 feet (4 meters), leaving the sewage underground. Today, this underground region is different, and can be toured by visitors who gain insight into the city's history and the street raising process. The tour is provided by the city's deputy mayor. The old material and locations of Port Angeles Underground are still visible.
