Western Gateway Heritage State Park
Furnace Street
About this venue
Western Gateway Heritage State Park was once a railroad yard which was used to construct a tunnel through a mountain and connect Massachusetts to Albany, NY. A dangerous feat at that time, this engineering marvel still stands strong today and visitors can take a guided tour through it. Other attractions in the park include storage buildings that were restored beautifully, along with a sprawling courtyard. The park also includes a museum which houses exhibits that were used in the construction of the tunnel and the railroad. There are also many educational programs in this hotel.
