About this tour

Beneath the streets of Mexico City lies Tenochtitlan, the island capital of the Mexica people. At its center stood the Templo Mayor, the great twin temple dedicated to Huitzilopochtli, god of war and the sun, and Tlaloc, god of rain. On this private tour, your SECTUR-certified guide meets you in the Zócalo and takes you through the archaeological site and its museum. You'll see the layers of temples built one over another, the Coyolxauhqui stone whose discovery in 1978 led to the excavation of the site, and the monumental Tlaltecuhtli, earth goddess, found in 2006. Expect stories, not a list of dates: how the Mexica saw the universe, why the temple was rebuilt again and again, and how the old city still shapes Mexico City today. The pace is yours and questions are always welcome. This tour is private: only your group, from 1 to 25 guests. Entry ticket included.
