A collective of self-proclaimed yokels, the Denton, Texas band Boxcar Bandits was formed in 2005 by Texas Rex, after the collapse of his former bluegrass band Blaizin' Grass. Compiling a group of musicians who helped him hone a sound that the band would dub "skungrass," Texas Rex began making a name for his new band that incorporated everything from Old Time Music to fastgrass to classic country. While the band often alters its live lineup, Boxcar Bandits' performances are consistently entertaining and fans are known to start square-dancing formations during the band's set.
