Spawning from a drunken impromptu jam session in 2010, Austin-based Black Books quickly began writing a song repertoire to start performing. Taking its name from the British sitcom, the five-piece grabbed the attention of London label Shifting Sounds, which signed the band after hearing its first EP. Stitching together earnest, folksy vocals and pretty, stringed instrumentals to a solid blues rock backbone, the band's music is diverse enough not to fall into one genre, and has therefore won over a variety of fans.
