Metz Handball competes in the French Women's First League. Founded in 1967, it won its first French Championship in 1989 and by 2012, it had done it 22 more times. Its list of achievements also includes winning multiple French League Cup Championships. By building such a marvelous track record, this team has established itself as one of the most successful handball teams in the country. Many great players such as Isabelle Wendling, Ekaterina Andriouchina and Nina Kanto have donned the colors of this club. The team plays its home games at the Metz Arena.
