After the dissolution of Cincinnati garage rock band Thee Shams, brothers Andrew and Zachery Gabbard and keyboardist/drummer Joseph Sebaali--all three of whom were former Shams--traded in their previous band's dirty psychedelia for melodic classic rock with the Buffalo Killers. While their new band pinches liberally from virtually everyone in the classic rock pantheon, they have more than enough ingenuity and charisma to make their sound entirely their own--gaining notice from other classic rock torchbearers such as the Black Crowes and the Black Keys in the process. As the band has progressed, it's gradually returned to its early grittiness and added flourishes of bottom-heavy, late-1960s/early 1970s R&B.
