Group ANAYA is a traditional music group from Seoul, South Korea that is attempting to synthesize the various traditional aspects of Korean musical history into a new form that can more easily be heard and appreciated by modern global audiences. Typically, and usually with good reason, those who consider themselves to be "cultured" might thumb their nose at crossover acts that tend to "modernize" traditional music into something that comes off sounding contrived, if not completely unlistenable. However, Group ANAYA takes a different approach to the modernization of Korean traditional music--not so much in a way that's supposed to get people interested in traditional music, but in a way that shows that traditional methods can combine with the modern to create something completely new and interesting to listen to.
