Inspired by old school hip-hop of the 1980s and early 1990s, emcee Termanology and producer Statik Selektah teamed up and formed the retro-minded duo, 1982. Termanology is an accomplished rapper in his own right, and his East Coast-inspired style contrasts well with the sunny, laid-back beats from Statik Selektah. With songs such as "The Radio," full of vintage scratching and upbeat jazz and soul samples, the duo's music reads like a love letter to hip-hop's golden era, and it's easy to grasp why the producers chose the moniker 1982. It remains to be seen whether or not 1982 will be a one-time side-project for the two, so catching a live set sooner than later would be advisable.
