After the breakup of his beloved pop band Troubled Hubble, Chris Otepka started The Heligoats as an outlet for his left-field indie-pop instincts. Initially a home-recorded, one-man band with Otepka playing virtually every instrument, The Heligoats eventually evolved into a full-fledged quartet dedicated to turning Otepka's lavishly oddball musical ideas into reality. The band gives wildly inventive arrangements to devilishly clever tunes that walk the line between contemplative folk and jubilant chamber pop.
