Erin Ivey is an Austin, Texas-based acoustic singer/songwriter who occasionally plays with her live band, the Finest Kind. Ivey plays a stripped-down version of urban folk that is centered around her impressive vocal chops. Similar to the dreamy, reverb-drenched tones of Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval, her voice is beautiful in its somberness and restraint. Ivey fleshes her sound out a bit more with the Finest Kind, incorporating keyboard, percussion and electric guitar and bass. She's already won over many contemporary folk fans throughout Texas and is hoping to branch out further in the coming years.
