ELEW is the stage name for famed concert jazz pianist Eric Lewis of Camden, New Jersey, whose transition into the popular music spotlight has caused a resurgence of interest in the potential of rock music in jazz piano. By combining the various elements that make up ragtime, rock, pop and jazz, ELEW was able to hit upon a winning solo-instrumental style of music that he would label as "Rockjazz." Lewis' newest stage incarnation, backed up by the musician's proven success as a well-respected jazz pianist, is already being praised for productively reconciling two disparate genres of music in a way that is as exciting as it is eye-opening.
