First, its pronounced gree-yahd. Second, Grillade is comprised of vocalist Regan Fykes, producer Keelay, guitarist Nate Mercerau and backing band The Park. Third, the San Francisco-based band makes soul music that's fundamentally smooth and easygoing but consistently retains enough rough-hewn edges to keep the music interesting and engaging. A big part of those edges comes from Fykes's brassy, operatic croon and Mercerau's guitar hero theatrics.
