Formed in Portland in the late 1990s by Rob Wong and Nate "Nanotear" Carson, Witch Mountain is a rock-minded metal band that fuses the heavy blues of early Black Sabbath with the retro-minded grunge of fellow Pacific Northwesterners Nirvana. Eventually adding throat-shredding vocalist Uta Plotkin, the band likes to temper its sludgy bombast with moments of unexpected beauty and grace.
