Whereas most of its dance-punk contemporaries focus on the genre's angular edges, WhoMadeWho instead embraces new wave synths as well as a whimsical "anything goes" sensibility. Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, the trio takes pride in flouting conventions and incorporating a wide range of diverse influences, from mechanical krautwork to sleek, sexy disco. These elements often occur in the same song, and are played with an openhearted conviction, which prevents the band's constant stylistic diversions from coming off as mere genre exercises.
