Taking its name from the protagonists of William Gibson's science fiction novel Pattern Recognition, Volkova Sisters is the project of Daniel Sandor and Dalma Berger, formed in 2008. Though based out of Budapest, Hungary, the duo sings in English and draws on 80s dark wave influences as well as shoegaze and ambient rock. Generally performing with backing instrumentalists, as a five-piece, Volkova Sisters is known for playing on stage in a primarily straight-faced, still manner that is eerie at times, reflecting the slightly haunting nature of the band's music.
