The revolutionary punk rock musical American Idiot features music from Green Day's 2004 LP of the same name. Co-penned by Green Day front-man Billie Joe Armstrong, the musical follows a group of three friends as they struggle to survive the boredom and monotony of modern day suburbia. As they seek to escape through drugs, war and sex, they express their frustrations and struggles through music. The gripping, edgy piece of theater debuted at the Berkeley Repertory Theater in California in 2009, and moved to Broadway in 2010 following widespread critical acclaim.
