The band's special blend of music focuses on a distinct combination of African musical influences with roots reggae that has both fans and critics celebrating it as an interesting revitalization of the genre. Despite Tidal Waves' successful tweaks to the reggae genre from a musical perspective, the lyrics retain their core reggae values: calling for an end to social injustice and senseless oppression.
