The Spinto Band

One of the forerunners of the indie rock movement, The Spinto Band formed in 1996 and has stayed true to the genre's independent nature by remaining fairly underground. Taking its name from front-man Nick Krill's guitar playing grandfather Roy Spinto, the six-piece first began playing together in high school. Honing its characteristically quirky sound for ten years before it gained much attention outside of its native Delaware, the band scored a hit with its single "Mandy," which became the first track used for French director Vincent Moon's now famous video clip series, Take-Away Shows. The Spinto Band still tours regularly and releases new albums today.
