Drawing heavily on power pop bands that came before it, The Ripe is a quartet out of Austin, Texas. Along with its big power pop chords, the band's music also includes jangly guitars that sometimes delve into the surf genre, and complex sprawling arrangements that nod to 60s psych. After forming in 2007, The Ripe jumped on its city's live music circuit and won over locals, then disappeared to Spain for the summer to record its debut album in 2010.
