The Mumlers

Formed in 2005 in San Jose, California, The Mumlers continued to add members to its collective, giving the band the ability to incorporate a wide variety of instruments and influences. The result is a vintage sounding blend of Balkan instrumentals, doo-wop and gothic folk. Claiming to have chosen its name when the main six members of the band placed their hands on a Ouija board and spelled out the word - that happens to be the surname of William Mumler, a photographer from the mid-1800s who photographed ghosts - the group's name is highly fitting for its music that references ghosts lyrically and maintains a fairly haunting sound. A favorite on the indie folk tour bracket, the band plays live shows across the country on a regular basis.
