The Calm Blue Sea have been creating experimental rock music since they formed in Austin, Texas, in 2008. The three members of the band, Steve Bidwell, Chris Patin and Kyle Robarge, released their self-titled debut in 2008 and a limited edition Siegfried: An Original Score in 2009. Their music can also be described as post rock, with it featuring extended soaring guitar interplay that gradually builds into something beautiful.
