Surf City is an indie surf/pop rock band from Auckland, New Zealand that came about as the result of two teenagers getting together in mutual distaste for the heavy, avant-garde party music that was in vogue at the time. After a few years of trying to get by as a relatively unknown band in New Zealand, Surf City finally hit gold in 2007 with the release of its debut self-titled EP that would begin a nearly two year ascent up the college radio charts. By the time 2010 rolled around, Surf City was a band that had a place in almost every indie rock connoisseur's mind, launching the band to the international recognition and acclaim its two founding members could only dream of.
