The Canadian band Shimmering Stars creates vintage pop that harks back to the days when bands wore matching outfits and never employed any sort of distortion or wacky effects pedals to muddle guitar tones. Formed in 2010, the group has achieved somewhat of a following in its native British Columbia and as the band continues to play shows and release vintage-sounding surf rock, its popularity will surely grow. Though the production value of many of Shimmering Stars' songs is lackluster, the pop-friendly hooks and nostalgic sounds make the band's tracks worthy of repeated listens.
