Damas Gratis is an Argentine cumbia villera band founded by keyboardist and singer Pablo Lescano in 2000. Known for their energetic performances and raw, street-style lyrics, they quickly rose to prominence in Argentina's music scene. The band's name refers to a popular club phrase, "Ladies for Free," symbolizing their connection with everyday people. Lescano, recovering from a motorcycle accident in 1999, started composing the band's early hits, including "Se te ve la Tanga." Their debut album Para los Pibes (2000) became a sensation, cementing their place in the cumbia villera genre. Over the years, they expanded their fanbase, with highlights including winning the 2012 Gardel Award for Best Tropical Group Album for Esquivando el éxito and performing at Lollapalooza Argentina in 2018. Despite controversies and lineup changes, including Romina Lescano's departure in 2021, Damas Gratis remains one of Argentina's most successful tropical music groups.
