Or, The Whale is an Americana band from San Francisco that came about in 2006 as a result of a Craigslist ad placed by the band's founding members. As a result of this rather unorthodox, though startling effective method of band formation, Or, The Whale has gone on to become an indie sensation--earning a place on several independent music charts and awards for the band's debut LP Light Poles and Pines in 2007. Since then, Or, The Whale has continued to achieve unbridled success as one of Americana's hottest independent acts.
