Matt Haimovitz & Uccello

From the great white north, particularly Montreal, Quebec, comes Matt Haimovitz and his all-cello ensemble, the Uccello. Haimovitz is actually a professor of music at McGill University, and the Uccello is made up of Haimovitz's top students. The music composed and performed by the good professor is mostly classical and with hints of jazz, but there is also room to improvise with experimentation. Sometimes modern beats to the cello can be heard on songs, or dubbed over DJ scratching. I
