Yola Semedo, born on May 8, 1978, in Lobito, Angola, is a celebrated singer and the "Diva of Angolan Music." She began her career in 1984 as part of the family band Impactus 4, gaining international recognition after receiving the Voice of Gold award at the UNESCO International Festival in 1985. Her solo career took off in the 1990s, releasing albums like Yola Semedo and Minha Alma, and collaborating with artists such as Paulo Flores. Known for hits like "Você Me Abana" and "Volta Amor," she has earned numerous awards, including four Angola Music Awards in 2015. In addition to her music, Yola has supported public health initiatives and became a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador in 2015. Married to Carlos Manuel Resende Dias, she is also a mother of two. Yola’s powerful vocals and impact on Angolan music have made her a beloved figure in African music.
