Massar Egbari, an Egyptian rock band founded in 2005 in Alexandria, blends rock, jazz, blues, and Oriental music to create a unique sound that critiques social norms and issues. The band consists of Ayman Massoud (keyboards), Hany El Dakkak (guitar and lead vocals), Ahmed Hafez (bass guitar), Tamer Attallah (drums), and Mahmoud Siam (guitar, joining in 2008). Their name, meaning "Compulsory Detour," reflects their theme of challenging societal expectations. Massar Egbari gained international recognition with performances at festivals like Malta Arts Festival (2007), Barisa Rock Festival (2007), and Sauti Za Busara Festival (2010). They were featured in films such as El-Hawi (2010) and Microphone (2010), and appeared on the 2014 compilation Songs from a Stolen Spring. Their notable albums include Read The News (2013) and Rise and Fall (2015). In 2018, they released a music video for "Fakra" featuring Rosaline Elbay.
