Dutch-born, Los Angeles-based indie pop songstress, Laura Jansen, writes piano-driven tunes that manage to communicate a message of hope to forlorn listeners who have recently gone through a devastating period of heartbreak. She started writing songs as a means to deal with a romantic relationship gone awry, and as she started getting more comfortable with her songstress role, began to craft impressively melodramatic tunes that will cause many to fight back tears while listening to her tales of lost love. While hearing someone lament the loss of a romantic relationship might sound unbearable, many of Jansen's songs have a distinct train-wreck quality that makes them hard to avert attention from. Her debut was released in 2011 and has helped establish the lovelorn chanteuse as a crusader for the brokenhearted.
