İlhan İrem (1955–2022) was a renowned Turkish singer, songwriter, and composer born in Bursa. He began his musical journey in high school and rose to fame in the 1970s with hits like "Yazık Oldu Yarınlara." Known for his romantic songs and introspective lyrics, Irem's style evolved over time, delving into themes of metaphysics and peace. His iconic symphonic rock trilogy (Pencere, Köprü, Ve Ötesi) solidified his status in the Turkish music scene. In the 1980s, he represented Turkey at international competitions and continued releasing acclaimed albums throughout his career. His wife, Hansu İrem, collaborated on his later works as an art director. Beyond music, İrem was also an abstract painter and writer. He passed away in 2022, leaving behind a legacy as one of Turkey’s most influential and innovative artists.
