Ivan & Alyosha is an indie rock band from Seattle that derives its name from the two main characters in Fyodor Dostoyevsky's famed existentialist novel The Brothers Karamazov. The band even cites the novel's debate over the existence of God as the inspiration for much of their material. Ivan & Alyosha's dialectical approach to creating music has proven to be successful amongst indie rock fans and critics looking for bands to rise from the shallowness that many feel is beginning to pervade the scene.
