Jamila & The Other Heroes

Jamila & The Other Heroes is a Berlin-based band. Primarily a psychedelic-funk band, it has been known to include elements of African music in its sound as well. Through this project, lead singer and powerhouse Jamila Al-Yousef channels her innate desire to have a positive impact on the world. It debuted in 2017 with its EP Change, which was followed by the single "Abu Dub" in 2019. Since then, the band has toured extensively in Germany, the Middle East and North Africa. It released its first full-length studio album Sit El Kon (The Grandmother of the Universe) in 2020. Through their enfranchising lyrics, the songs - sung in Arabic and English - aim to encourage feelings of empathy in the listeners.
