Erland & The Carnival is a folk rock band from London that was formed by multi-instrumentalist Simon Tong, best known for his work as a member of the British alternative rock band The Verve during the late-90s. The band's eponymous debut album was released to critical acclaim, with tracks that include contemporary folk arrangements of Scottish and English folk songs compiled by 20th Century British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. With a genuine appreciation of their country's folk and poetic traditions, the members of Erland & the Carnival seem to be made for bringing this rich heritage to a whole new generation of listeners.
