He rose to fame as a three-time winner of the Vallenato Legend Festival, earning the title "King of Kings." Gutiérrez began playing the accordion at age four and launched his professional career in 1960. His breakthrough came in 1968 after signing with Codiscos, leading to national success. He was a member of the iconic group Los Corraleros de Majagual, and his hits include classics like "Los Indios" and "Ay Elena." With a discography of over 30 albums, Gutiérrez's music blends Colombian culture and vallenato traditions.
