Doldrums

About

Known as an innovator for his work with Bollywood-inspired experimental pop band Sprial Beach, Toronto-based artist Airick Woodhead began his solo project Doldrums in 2009. Similar to Woodhead's previous work, Doldrums retains and expands upon Spiral Beach's experimental qualities, incorporating tribal beats and unusual mash-ups into a general leaning toward avant-pop. Woodhead also insists on there being a visual element accompanying his music and thus not only pairs his experimental tracks with interesting film snippets when performing live, but also generally releases his work on VHS tapes, as to contain the visual and auditory elements of his music in one package.
