About
De Staat is an alternative rock group based out of Holland. The group's mix of blues rock grooves and angular indie rock has made it one of the more popular touring acts in the Netherlands. Lead singer, Torre Florim, started De Staat as a one-man project in 2008, but soon decided his songs would be better served if performed by a whole band. The group's debut album, Wait for Evolution, is full of brawny rock tracks punctuated by Florim's eccentric vocal delivery, which at turns seems to consciously mimic notable rock voices like Elvis Presley, Nick Cave and Jon Spencer.
