Perhaps best known as the lead singer for late-90s group, Semisonic, Dan Wilson's solo albums will most likely appeal to an entirely different set of listeners. The Minneapolis-based singer/songwriter crafts tunes that touch on country, folk and Americana, all of which are a bit at odds with the alternative rock of his former band, which spawned the 1998 single, "Closing Time." His new style suits him well, however, and Wilson's sharp songwriting and emotive vocal delivery have helped keep him a relevant figure in the modern folk-rock scene.
