Venezuelan music collective Bituaya meshes traditional Caribbean folk with Latin rhythms, and overlays the blend with modern electronic flourishes and Spanish hip-hop styled lyrics. The group is very socially active in its community and incorporates this activism into its music with lyrical matter that pertains to the injustices in the life of the average worker. With a devoted following in its native country that appreciates the group's modern-traditional fusion and socially conscious lyrics, the band had found success before even releasing an album. After Bituaya finally released their debut album in 2010, the group decided to attempt to expand its audience by playing shows internationally.
