About
Austra is a Canadian electro-goth band that blends haunting vocals with vintage synthesizer basslines to create a uniquely original form of music that's well suited to today's nefariously interconnected world. Based out of Toronto and fronted by eerie female vocalist Katie Stelmanis, Austra's style manages to fall somewhere in between the witch house and synthpop genres. The group's debut single, "Beat and the Pulse" was released in 2011 and is a song that perfectly surmises the group's catchy, yet sinister sound.
