April Smith is a 5'2'' New York-based singer/songwriter who creates pop-friendly tunes that many folks who take music seriously find difficult to listen to. With a carefree disposition, Smith manages to come off as a girl who won her high school's battle of the bands competition and decided the award gave her free reign to dedicate her lifetime to creating cherry tunes. While some might cringe at the singer's unbridled enthusiasm, others no doubt find her glee enchanting. After she released her debut LP--recorded with her backing band the Great Picture Show--in 2010, she managed to find a fairly sizable following that swooned at her faux vintage, big band sound and high-spirited, albeit slightly corny, style.
