Los Angeles producer Take is a beatmaker rooted in the hip-hop tradition, but is amongst a larger community of LA-based producers and electronic musicians around the world who are re-working hip-hop's beat structure to incorporate other traditions in beatmaking. IDM is an important part of this new era in beatmaking, as are sounds like dubstep, jungle, and house. Take's music broadens these sounds even further with the use of live instruments fed through sound processors and filters. Take has been releasing his production in compilations and album formats since 1999.
