Kim Nam-joon, known professionally as RM (formerly Rap Monster), is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and record producer born on September 12, 1994, in Seoul. As the leader of the globally successful K-pop group BTS, RM played a significant role in shaping the group’s music and image. He debuted with BTS in 2013 and quickly became known for his deep lyricism and musical versatility. RM released his first solo mixtape RM in 2015, followed by Mono in 2018, which received international acclaim. In 2022, he made his official solo debut with the album Indigo, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. Aside from his BTS career, RM has collaborated with prominent artists like Fall Out Boy, Wale, and Anderson .Paak. He is also noted for his philanthropic efforts, supporting various causes including arts education and cultural preservation. RM began his mandatory military service in December 2023.
