As the rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist for long-running group, Steel Pulse, David Hinds has been an influential figure in the UK's reggae scene. Born and raised in Birmingham, England, Hinds began to become passionate about protest music and the Rastafarian movement in the early-to-mid 70s, eventually linking up with the rest of Steel Pulse to explore roots-based and contemporary reggae sounds. In his lyrics, Hinds attempts to draw attention to injustices and problems in the world that are going unnoticed. He continues to tour with Steel Pulse, occasionally finding the time to perform solo.
