Bob Marley, The Grateful Dead and The Band left their musical marks on pop culture during the 20th Century, influencing thousands of individuals to pick up instruments and write their own songs. Sunday Gravy, a band from Rhode Island, made a decision in the summer of 2006 to cover the music of its aforementioned heroes instead of write its own material. After some more beers and banter between the founding members, they all decided they wanted to perform the songs acoustically so they could play in more venues and therefore have more opportunities to make some cash. The group is fronted by the soulful singer and percussionist Jason Jarvis who is able to carry the classic songs of the group's repertoire without needing to imitate the original vocalists.
