In order to paint a proper dramatic portrait of George Carlin, a songwriter really has to do some digging. In "Stand Up Comedian" Rupert Wates, a singer/songwriter from London, delicately recants the hardships Geroge Carlin faced along the way to becoming a legend with lyrics detailing how Carlin, in his youth, was an expert at messing up. Wates has been a professional songwriter since 1992 when he signed with Eaton Music Publishing. In 2001 he moved to Paris to develop his performance skills, resulting in 2005's live recording Sweet or Bitter Wine. Then a year after releasing his debut Rupert relocated to America, where he now plays 100+ shows a year typified by his detailed character-studies.
