The Brooklyn-based trio Grooms was formed from the ashes of indie rock outfit Muggabear with the addition of New York underground sensation Parts & Labor drummer Jim Skyes in 2008. Not afraid of noise, the trio layers drone, reverb and heavy drumming over catchy hooks, sounding like an amalgamation of 90s grunge and indie noise-pop. While the band isn't necessarily making the "it" music of the moment, the group is slowly amassing recognition and accolades for making music that isn't based on current trends.
